Leaves of the San Juans
I ended up shooting quite a few images of fallen leaves this fall and thought I would post a few to get some opinions. My neighbor has said that she would like a print of one of them so I figured I would run a few by my peers.

#4 I shot this mainly because I liked the curves and lines in the ice. I'm sure people wondered what I was doing hunched over in the bar ditch.

Fantastic collection of images (and leaves!), Michael. I enjoyed all of them though #4 is the standout in my eyes for the same reasons you mentioned. Beautiful work. :toast:

Thanks for all the positve feedback. I've found myself shooting intimate images like these more and more. I just find it very interesting, the way all the smaller things in nature come together.

Very nice collection. Like the simplicity in the second image.

The leaves under the ice are nice. I like them both, but especially 4 for the curved lines in the ice.

I really like this collection as well. My faves are 4 and 5 for their unique takes on this subject and the justaposition of the seasons.

I would pick #1 as my first choice, followed by #2. I love the rich and varied colors in #1. Would it be impolite to ask if you found all the leaves in #2 in exactly that position? I would probably not have cropped #2 in such a way that the end of the leaf stem exactly touched the edge of the frame.

Randall, that's exactly the way I found 'em. and no, it's not impolite to ask. I should have watched that when I cropped it. thanks for pointing that out.

I like the composition of #2 and the clean snowy canvas. I also like the patterns in the ice on #4 and how the snow frames the pattern and leaves.

#4 is my favorite. Love the unusual ice patterns there, it looks like no other photo I've seen. #1 is my next favorite, a bit more of a standard composition, but the diversity of colors and sharpness definitely make it a winner. The inclusion of the lichen on #s 3 and 6 add some great visual interest to those photos too!
