Save the date! The Annual RMNP Shindig will be held this coming February 11, 2012 in Denver at Sign Language, LLC.

Who: Everyone on NPN is invited! If you don’t live in the area, but are passing through, we welcome you :wavey:

What: According to the Webster dictionary, a shindig is: A: social gathering with dancing or B: a usually large or lavish party. Our shindig is C: a large-ish social gathering without dancing, but tons of photo talk! :argue:

Where: Sign Language, LLC; 275 Mariposa St., Denver, CO 80223.
Directions: from both north and south, your best bet is I-25, exit 6th Avenue, going east. Turn right onto Kalamath Street, go three blocks south, turn right on West 3rd Avenue. Go west two blocks, take left turn onto South Mariposa Street. Sign Language is right on the corner. Proceed half a block, turn right into open gate, park anywhere in there or on the street.
MAP

Parking: Plenty of parking available inside our fenced in area on Mariposa, as well as on the street of both Mariposa on the east and 3rd just north of the building.

Entrance: Enter at the door inside the gated area; it’s behind all the hanging banners on the east side of our building. The main Sign Language entrance facing Mariposa (275) on the corner will be locked. I’ll have signs up with some directions.

When: February 11, 2012 from 5pm - 9pm

Why: Because it’s fun to meet people face to face after talking online! :jump:

In the past some basic food/drink options were provided, but after some thought and reflection we’ve decided to go with a potluck format. We will need appetizers, desserts, alcoholic drinks and non-alcoholic drinks. To ensure we don’t end up with all beer and no cookies, I am asking that people commit to one type of thing to bring when you RSVP. :toast:

There will be a raffle full of fun things and our world famous white elephant print exchange!

I hope you can make it! Please let me know if you have questions!

A quick edit on the White Elephant guidelines:
No Guidelines! Bring what you like!

You can count me in for sure!

Sounds Great! Koveh can I get a ride?
Posted by Jim Erhardt on December 6, 2011 at 9:39 AM
I'm packin' up a big box of goodies for the raffle!
Posted by Bret Edge on December 6, 2011 at 12:03 PM
Dang it! Once again, I'm working and can't make the shindig this year. I hope y'all have a great time, though. I'll be there in spirit.
Posted by Todd Caudle on December 6, 2011 at 2:00 PM
Me and my woman is gonna be there!!! Thanks BD!!!
Posted by Bill Bean on December 6, 2011 at 3:34 PM
Wow! Bret Edge is gonna send spirits? Whoooooo Hoo! I'll be there but not sure what sort of edibles I'll be bringing this time. BD, I was going to heap some abuse on you for not showing up to the College Hill Library show hanging on Sunday since it's just a couple miles from your crib but this forever exempts you from abuse. Good job and excellent contribution, my friend. And thanks to the mods and particularly Anne for getting this thing in gear.
Posted by Bob Falcone on December 6, 2011 at 5:53 PM
"...all beer and no cookies..." You make that sound like a bad thing!
I'll be there (and probably bring beer!).
Posted by David Kingham on December 6, 2011 at 9:39 PM
I'll be there! Thanks Anne
Posted by Koveh Tavakkol on December 10, 2011 at 12:46 PM
Kane, let me check my calendar and see how things look. Might be we can get a group of us together and car pool.
:toast:

I would love to be there but I'll be snowboarding in Steamboat. If anyone else is in Steamboat that weekend, send me an email. We'll hook up.
Posted by Sarah Marino on December 19, 2011 at 12:00 AM
Thanks for organizing everything! I will be there and will bring a snack/appetizer of some kind.
Posted by D J Kuklinski on December 23, 2011 at 4:15 PM
Pencil me in; depends on my work schedule.

Update: I will not be able to make it.
Posted by Ken Wyatt on December 23, 2011 at 7:05 PM
I second Bret's "drat"! Unfortunately, I'll be photographing in Arizona that time of year. Don't know whether I can conjure up spirits...nut I -will- be thinking of you all. Have fun!
Posted by Stephen Weaver on December 26, 2011 at 11:59 AM
Looking at my schedule, I should be able to make it this year. I will bring beer or a pie!
Posted by Randall K. Roberts on December 26, 2011 at 2:09 PM
Please sign me up. I'm happy to bring whatever is most needed.
Posted by Tim Visser on December 28, 2011 at 12:54 AM
Unfortunately, I will not be able to attend this year. Fortunately, I will be in Tanzania watching and photographing the biggest migration. Hope you all have fun at the event.
Posted by Bob Maynard on December 28, 2011 at 4:29 PM
I'll be there!
Posted by Art Escobado on December 28, 2011 at 4:57 PM
Sounds great - count me in.
Posted by Joshua Warrender on December 29, 2011 at 6:43 PM
Looking forward to it!
Posted by Don Grall on December 30, 2011 at 1:05 PM
Arrrrrghhhhh! That's my weekend to work, can't make it. One would think there would be a 50-50 chance each year that I could make it since I only work every other weekend, but that hasn't happened for the past 4-5 years now :frown:
Posted by Debbie Yarra on January 5, 2012 at 1:19 AM
Anne, I'm new to RMNP and would love to meet the people behind the lenses! A "Shindig" sounds like the perfect way. Would you tell me a little about the white elephant print exchange, if there are any guidelines, etc. Also, what's the raffle all about? I will bring some wine and veggie tray. Thanks
Posted by Todd Caudle on January 6, 2012 at 12:41 AM
Deb, I'll e-mail you separately regarding the white elephant. Can't wait for this year's party!
Posted by Anne K. Rusk on January 6, 2012 at 12:50 AM
Deb, I emailed you with some info! I'm looking forward to you joining us for this and the raptor shoot! :wavey:
Posted by Soubhik Patranabis on January 10, 2012 at 12:34 PM
Won't be able to make it this year :frown:
Posted by Bill Pelzmann on January 12, 2012 at 1:27 AM
I will be there. Sign me up for a desert and the white elephant.
Posted by Bill Bean on January 12, 2012 at 11:33 AM
I'm planning on being there. Sign me up for an appetizer. Pulled pork sliders.
Posted by Jack Garrett on January 12, 2012 at 11:44 AM
Count me in with 10 2 liter bottles of soda and 5 large bags of chips and doritos.
Posted by Jim Casteel on January 16, 2012 at 3:10 PM
I'll be there, maybe with some beer... I will probably try and bring some sort of food as well. Maybe a couple dominoes pizzas.

So, this post says no plaques, the other one says plaques are fine.... Which is it? It costs me nearly the same amount to mount it as it does to matte it so I would prefer to plaque mount it for people
Posted by Anne K. Rusk on January 16, 2012 at 3:41 PM
Plaques are fine, Jim! Sorry about that! I just updated the post to avoid future confusion
Posted by Ryan Wright on January 16, 2012 at 10:38 PM
I'm new to NPN and I MIGHT be able to make it. Would like to meet some more shooters, seems to be a wealth of talented ones here.
Posted by Jack Garrett on January 17, 2012 at 10:33 AM
hope you can make it Ryan...welcome to the forum.
Posted by Kalin Wilson on January 17, 2012 at 11:34 PM
Planning to be there. I'll bring something for the print exchange. If Brent asks REALLY nicely, I may make Guacamole, or bring something else to share.
Posted by Anne K. Rusk on January 18, 2012 at 10:01 AM
I'm glad you'll be able to make it, Kalin! I'll beg for the guacamole!!! :wavey:
Posted by Brent Doerzman on January 18, 2012 at 11:17 AM
New rule: Kalin can't come in the door unless he has some of his guacamole!! (glad you'll be there! )
Posted by Bill Bean on January 18, 2012 at 12:47 PM
Hey Brent, does the new place have plug ins for a crock pot?
Posted by Mary Haselow on January 18, 2012 at 6:37 PM
Hi Anne, I just signed up as a regional member. It sounds like a fun group. Sign me up for the shindig. I will bring my famous Chile Relleno Caserole dish.
Posted by Anne K. Rusk on January 18, 2012 at 9:14 PM
Looking forward to meeting you, Mary (and tasting your chile relleno casserole!!) :wavey:
Posted by Debbie Yarra on January 21, 2012 at 12:17 AM
Hey Ann, Count me in for the print swap. Let me know if I can bring anything else. Blessings, Deb
Posted by Brent Doerzman on January 21, 2012 at 12:41 PM
Bill, that shouldn't be a problem I'd think. We haven't decided exactly where the food will sit, but I'll take plugs into consideration when figuring that out.
Posted by Fred Braun on January 25, 2012 at 10:46 PM
I plan on attending. I will bring some fruit such as pineapple and something for the white elephant.
Posted by Todd Caudle on January 26, 2012 at 9:27 AM
I'm bringing a blonde and a tub of fruit salad. And a print for the swap.
Posted by David Bartlett _CO on January 26, 2012 at 11:08 AM

I've got you down, Fred, Todd, and Dave! Thanks for the responses!
Posted by Ryan Wright on January 27, 2012 at 1:12 AM
My schedule is clear for the shindig, so count me in. What's needed to bring?
Posted by Fred Stearns on January 27, 2012 at 9:29 PM
Count me and my wife in. We will be bringing an appetizer (Bread and spinach dip). I will try to bring a white elephant.
Posted by Joshua Warrender on January 28, 2012 at 10:43 AM
Last year we had a list at the top showing who was coming and what they were bringing. Could we do that again? Makes things easier to browse through. :toast:

I'll be there, might do something like BBQ beef. I'll also bring some beers. :toast:
Posted by Bill Bean on January 28, 2012 at 12:23 PM
I'm already down in the thread but as a reminder: I'll be bringing pulled pork and buns for pulled pork sliders and a print for the swap
Posted by Randy Van Winkle on January 28, 2012 at 4:06 PM
I will be attending and will bring hummus + delivery system + beer
Posted by Erik Stensland on January 28, 2012 at 4:48 PM
I plan to come as well. I'll bake some cookies and brownies for the gathering.
Posted by Bob Falcone on January 29, 2012 at 1:08 AM
I'll be bringing some local microbrew and a print.
Posted by Stephen Trainor on February 2, 2012 at 5:38 PM
Looks like I'll be able to make it. Anne - anything in particular you're looking for people still to bring food/drink wise?
Posted by Anne K. Rusk on February 2, 2012 at 10:03 PM
Awesome, Stephen! Maybe a dessert thing or soda? Glad you can make it!
Posted by Stephen Trainor on February 3, 2012 at 12:50 AM
Dessert thing it is!
Posted by George Hager on February 6, 2012 at 3:46 PM
What I bring pretty much depends on what runs in front of my car between now and this weekend. Probably some sort of meat or fowl.
Posted by Bob Falcone on February 7, 2012 at 2:01 PM
Last year we also had a swap and sell table for used stuff, etc. Will we be doing that again this year?
Posted by Anne K. Rusk on February 7, 2012 at 2:37 PM
Sounds good, George!! :-)

Bob, if you have something to bring, you are welcome to! I'll put a message out here so others can bring stuff if they'd like. We don't have anything official for that, but there are plenty of tables to accomodate it.
Posted by Bob Falcone on February 7, 2012 at 2:46 PM
Thanks Anne. I do have an item or two that are looking for a good home. If no one objects, and others have stuff they'd like to find new homes for, a swap and sell table might be a good addition to the shindig.
Posted by Brent Doerzman on February 7, 2012 at 7:14 PM
Hello all! Just wanted to post a pic showing some logistics for parking and entering the Shindig, since its a totally new location this year.
Any of the yellow highlighted areas are cool, there will be plenty of space. Hope this helps! See you all there!
Posted by Joshua Hardin on February 8, 2012 at 12:13 PM
Of course I plan on attending. I'll be bringing the usual (beer!). Looking forward to seeing everyone.
:toast:

Bummer, Mary! I do hope to meet you another time!!
Posted by Randall K. Roberts on February 10, 2012 at 1:37 PM
Bringing napkins, plastic cups, and soda (for those teetotalers in the group). Let me know if you need me to bring something else.
Posted by Kane Engelbert on February 10, 2012 at 10:21 PM
I'll be there with a print and shrimp platter.
Posted by Tom Stermitz on February 11, 2012 at 1:27 PM
I will be able to make it; saving gas as it is a short walk from my girlfriend's studio (Earthbeat Dance). Anne, email me if there are shortages of anything.
