I received this email from a non profit group that would offer us an opportunity to shoot some raptors in action or natural perches. Take a look at the email and let us know if you are interested. Anne is looking into an option also. Individual cost would be determined by the number of people interested, I.E. 10 people x $10.00.
Here is the email, what do you think?
Hi Jack, and thanks for your email! We have done multiple photo shoots like what you're interested in. We actually just did one with the Mile High Wildlife Photography Club and it was a blast. We would be willing to meet you at an Open Space area for a photo shoot in Aurora if that works. For outside Aurora, we'll charge a bit more just to cover gas at 55.5 cents/mile. The number of people attending doesn't affect our pricing at all. We charged the other photography group $100 for 90 minutes for all four birds to come. We had the birds sitting on rocks, in trees, etc. We also have a Harris's Hawk that can do demos for action shots. Flight demos can only be done in fall and winter for flying season. His jesses will be attached to a creance (if outdoors) or he can be totally free-flighted if indoors. Our Gyrfalcon is flighted also, but isn't a strong flier. He can only fly about 50 feet before having to land. We're working on him though! If it is of interest to the members, we are able to send out prey for them to capture. Hope this works out! Thanks so much and talk soon,

Jack, I assume this is a raptor rescue organization? If so, I'd be interested in the group shoot.

Bill, I don't think it is a rescue. They are a non-profit, licensed to keep non-releasable birds of prey. Sounds like they may have been injured or something..not sure. Here is a copy of the original email that was forwarded to me with a link to the organization:
Hello, my name is Gene Albright and I’m representing Nature’s Educators which is a non-profit 501c3 all-volunteer run educational wildlife program. We are licensed to keep non-releasable birds of prey by the Colorado Division of Parks and Wildlife and the US Fish and Wildlife Service for educational presentations. We take our birds to various venues to teach about their personal histories, diets, habitats, adaptations, and so much more. Audiences have the opportunity to see these magnificent animals up close and personal. I am contacting you to see if you would be interested in what we offer for potential photography opportunities and/or classes. Also we would be interested in posting on your classifieds section for other potential photographers or people who conduct photoshoots where they might need raptors. Please check out our website at http://www.coloradoraptoreducation.com/colorado-raptor-education.php and let us know!
Not being experienced with rescue vs educational what are your thoughts?

From their site: Nature's Educators is licensed by city, state, and federal agencies to keep non-releasable birds of prey. This means that these birds will never be able to return to the wild because of injuries or imprinting on humans. Raptors are not pets! These birds are what we call educational animal ambassadors. In captivity, their food is readily available so hunting is not a necessity any longer. For some birds, flying is no longer an option due to injuries.
I think this may have been the group I photographed with about 4 years ago through a thing with Wolf Camera. Although for that one there were 5 birds (maltese falcon, bald eagle, harris hawk, screech owl, and great horned owl with flight only by the harris hawk). It was a blast to be able to get so close. I'm in!

Sounds like a hoot! (Pun intended) I'm in.
Edit: I should clarify that weekdays would be impossible for me. Saturday or Sunday would be okay.

I would be in too! I need to get back to them to see if a weekend day is possible...as long as it doesn't interfere with my BRONCO Boys!!

If the day is right, I would do it, just to help support them if nothing else.

I would LOVE to do this! I would put money on Dan Walters wanting to join in as well. I will make sure he sees this.

Looks like a pretty good amount of interest. I will contact these folks and see if we can set something up for a weekend day in January if that works.
