Unexpected Garden Visitor

Whilst trying to photograph the Nuthatches in my garden, this unexpected visitor turned up. As luck would have it, my setting was at f8, though the speed was unnecessary high for a static bird. The background is a combination of distant brickwork and fence panels. Due to the relatively shallow depth of field of a close subject, it was nicely rendered OOF. This shot wasn't planned, and is entirely down to luck.

This is probably my last post for the year. So I'd like to take the opportunity to wish everyone a merry X'mas, and a happy+prosperous new year.

500mm+1.4, 1/500s, f8, iso2000, ff.

A real beauty. Knocks a nuthatch into a cocked hat!! Well caught Des, it pays to be prepared. A merry christmas to you too.

We get these in the garden as well, but I have never managed a photo. Beats a nuthatch any time. Cracking picture, Des, and a happy Christmas to you.
