I have a couple pdf "guides" that I have made available through my blog and website. They are Word Document files converted to pdf. They are basically location guides for the Michigan U.P. and Vermont, places I have spent a lot of time photographing.

In the fall of 2011,I had unprecedented requests for my pdf guides, and someone has suggested that I publish them in an eBook format.

I am finding its a "wilderness" out there in terms of formats, etc. Most of the reading I have done seem to suggest the the epub and similar popular formats do not work well with photographic images.

I see the the ones published by authors here look like they continue to be in pdf format.

Any suggestions?

Check out BookBaby http://www.bookbaby.com/ not expensive and will publish to all formats. They have a free e-book on the subject. I am thinking of using them

If you use a Mac, check out the Apple software application Pages, which publishes to several eBook formats.

Serif Software has a program called Page Plus X6 which not only will create PDFs but also "produce eBooks in standard EPUB® and .Mobi formats for readers like the Kindle™, tablets like the iPad, smartphones, and for publishing to online book stores" according to their promo. I have ordered a copy but haven't received it yet so I can't vouch for how well it works. I have used and earlier version of Page Plus to create PDFs and it worked well. The ebook feature is new to the X6 version. You can find them at serif.com.

Jims: Thanks for the input. Jim D: Unfortunately, the only Apple I have is an iPad 2. I wish I was all Apple, but my PC doubles as my work computer.

Jim B: Thanks, I will look at that program.

You might also want to seek out security measures if you are selling the book. Things like a downloading link expiration date, no duplication, and other items.
