PSYCH! No, I didn't magically teleport myself from the Sangres to NW New Mexico. But it dawned on me the night before the eclipse (and too late to do anything about it) that Shiprock would've been the PERFECT place to shoot the eclipse, since it occurred in the northwestern sky and there are ample places to shoot Shiprock from the southeast looking northwest. Please tell me SOMEBODY on this forum (John M, are you listening?) thought to go there for this event. Or, if you've seen any shots online from there, provide a link. I'd love to see what I missed.

All of us (particularly me) need to be reminded once in a while not to take ourselves too seriously. Got a great chuckle out of Phillip's shot. Thanks for making my morning!

Ha!! priceless Phil!!
About my own attempt to shoot the eclipse: I was in Central Kansas and got shut out by fog over Cedar bluff Reservoir! :frown:

Phillip, shouldn't the eclipse be OVER Shiprock?

As for 2014, the moon will not set anywhere near where it did for this latest eclipse, which made it a uniquely intriguing prospect for the shot -- Shiprock from its most stately angle + setting eclipse moon = Photographic Nirvana!

Awesome, Phil! Todd, I actually thought about it, but it was too far for me, alas.

Checked this out on TPE after your post. This would have definitely been a cool location. Doh! Hindsight 20/20.
Nice response Phil. :jump:
