Turtle dove
A Turtle dove taken in Essex during the summer of this year.

Canon 7D, EF 600mm f/4L, f/6.3, 1/400 sec, ISO 400. Imported with Adobe camera RAW, processed in CS5, NR with Nik Dfine and fullframe. Massive thanks to Phil :wavey:

Thanks for looking at my other photos and the guidance so far. C's & c's warmly welcomed as always.

Great to get anything on these at all these days Paul !!
I,m going to say the obvious about the head turn but you take what you can. The only problem with the grass foreground is the covering of the birds features on the wing ,but as I say ----- - - -
You can't have everything. Others will no doubt have different views.
Still an opportinity well grabbed.

Something a bit different Paul:wink:. Is it my screen at work or is the grass a bit greener than normal?

Nits covered, but it is such a difficult species to find these days that I am sure most people (including me) will envy you.

Having never seen a turtle dove myself I congratulate you on getting the image. From an aesthetic point of view (and I'm looking at it now as if it were a common woodpigeon or collared dove) I think the low viewpoint on this occasion has put too much obstructive foreground over the bird. Also, as John R mentioned, the head position is not favourable. Detail however is great.
