Lion roaring, taken at night on B&W film with flash ... OK, not quite, Lion yawning about midday d300 @ 400mm f8 ISO 400 ore or in reality a bit less than FF
Maybe not everyones taste but I welocme all C & C as usual.

Getting better Phil. What about cleaning off one or two of the flies

Keep the flies, like it as it is!

the roar and general processing look good Phil, but it looks like the head has been separated from the body. A bit of detail on the RHS of the frame would help for me.

ah some competition for THAT Hippo!
Love it as it is, a great B&W study with bags of toning gradation in it

Cheers for the comments, I agree Matt some anchoring to the RHS would help, Mike I am embarrassed to ask, what Hippo?
I'm having to reconsider my opinions of B/W animal studies as this is another very dramatic image. I love the actual pose and the processing is excellent but I do agree with previous comments that it seems as if it is floating in mid air a bit.
Hippo: on home page of NPN. (incidentally, I think that particular image has been over processed and the burning in of the background around the hippo does not look right. . . . v. dramatic but unrealistic)

Saw an image similar to this on NPN some time ago and the comments were similar in that the head looks detached, almost as though it was mounted. I tend to agree with the comments although the processing is superb. Glad I'm not an antelope looking at those gnashers!
