I like it Neil. Great to see something different on here. Some might say the lighting is a bit too good in that it may not truly represent the conditions under which these would normally found but that is the problem with mainly nocturnal animals. For me it is a fine study and very attractive to boot.
On another topic . . . you mentioned in a reply to one of JR's posts that you had thought about getting the sigma 100-300 f4. I can thoroughly reccomend it. I used to have both Canon's 70-200 f4L and the 300 f4L but found I always had the wrong lens on camera at the wrong time. I decided to sell both and bought the Sigma zoom. I have had it for around 6 years or so and it has been brilliant. They have always had good pro standard lenses and are very innovative. My first was the 24-70mm f2.8 which was brought out long before Canon thought of it and their 500 f4.5 is a great lens too. So if I was you I'd get one without hesitation.

Great shot although I am finding the OOF mush in the middle a little distracting. How on earth did you manage a 3 shot pano?

Neil that little bit in the middle does distract a bit from the rest of the image which is great.

The letter box treatment works well here, although I do agree about that oof bit in the middle.

Arghhh, mush. Yes the mush is there and I did not clear that much away due to not realizing I needed to stitch. lots of moss and roots under the rotten log. :| I am not shooting at night but I need two flashes at 1/16 to get any kind of light. I kind of got addicted. ;)
Once they have a sunflower seed they sit still, so the first two shots were easy, from left to right, just had to wait for the 2nd vole to look towards the other. They move rather alot. I set my * button to lock focus but in this case I may have slipped as I had gloves on... next time.
I am interested in the 100-300 but it has no stabilizer, a thing I love and as the lens is no longer made I figure they may release an OS version anytime soon. Still, they go for around 500€ used now.

Interesting shot Neil. I have to say the "balance seems a bit off somehow to me - can't explain it. The mush join in the dead centre does seem to grab my eye a little
.In fact the more I look at it, I reckon the individual animals would make nice ones in their own right.

Mush? never did mind it my eye is always drawn to whats in focus rather than what is not, mind you in some of my shots its kind of hard to find something in focus , really great to see something differant, creative and well executed, think is cracking, youve done a great job. However in all honesty i hope to photogrpah one of those in the talons of a Barn Owl this winter, sorry!!! :
