I do hope they start playing, or I am not coming to the UK, family be damned :)

I actually am in the "pro" barbed wire camp, especially for raptors. :toast:

Stunning, Ive been after some shots of them myself, in fact am going to post an effort soon, have not got as close as this or perched up so very envious. Personally I would ahve shot portrait but it is personal and i would have prefered looking at you not over your shoulder but not a critiscism as mostly personal. Jesus 300mm that big in the frame if they start playing ball at wolaby let me know ... please .... :toast: :toast:

I do love that stare, and am impressed that you managed such a detailed shot with only a 300mm on the front of the camera. I don't know of anywhere where they are playing ball this year, so I guess we shall just have to be hopeful for 2012.

Superb image! Great background and fantastic detail and those eyes......WOW. I do not mind barbed wire and man made posts...they are part of the landscape whether we like it or not. The bird just sees it as a perch so why shouldn't we?
11/10. 300mm...was that your breath ruffling the tail feathers?

Barbed wire and post is fine and as Nick says it is part of the countryside's furniture  Landscape works for me as the bird is staring into the shot. Did you try it flipping so the bird is looking left to right?

As Phil will testify we could have shot one with a macro lens on sunday. One came to within five yards but it was behind us as we were shooting one in front. We just happened to glance around and came face to face with it.

Keith

A cracking image as is. They perch on posts so where is the problem?

those eyes are just stunning aren't they. A bit of golden light would have been the icing on the cake but stil a lovely image.
