My gal and I were recently looking at another photographer's images, one who does a ton of HDR stuff that resulted in the final image looking very painterly, and as I tried to describe the technique to her (a non-photographer) and tell her how easy it was to attain the look, I could see the glaze forming over her eyes. So I decided to show her real time, and made sure to take some HDR-compatible series yesterday morning. Here's the result. A bit (okay, a lot) more photo-art than I would necessarily publish, but I thought they looked cool.

Wow, Velvia's got nothing on these colors! Don't sit too close to the monitor...

I really like the dusting of snow and the contrast it gives
Beautiful...you're so lucky to live in Colorado Springs...so close to the GOG.

Howd i know id see some GOG photos with fresh snow on them from you this morning. I must be psycho...i mean psychic. The cyan snow is making me cry, but mainly that is due to the fact that i have the stomach bug from hell. Pretty stuff tho...

Hi Todd, the first image has 3d feel to it. Nice depth from the crag to the mountain.

I like the rocks, but can't get past the Bronco blue snow.

Velvia would have produced the same saturated colors, but also much higher contrast, which is why these images have such an unnatural (or artistic -- take your pick) look.

I can't believe what I'm seeing. Super saturated Todd Caudle images!
They actually work really well for me from an artistic standpoint, especially the first one. Without the shadows there seems to be an increase in apparent detail which is interesting and the color combination is complimentary. I like #2 a little bit less since the snow on Pikes Peak seems very bright. Go Broncos!

Yikes! In spite of the super duper saturation and blue snow, very nice
