Black and White Macro
You don't see black and white macro very often, but I thought this subject lent itself to the dark, menacing look. Probably not one with mass appeal ( ) but it's nice to try something different from time-to-time. It's a Common Rough Woodlouse by the way.

Canon 5D with MPE-65mm macro lens and diffused 580EXII flash, f11, 1/160, ISO 50. Processed in LR and PS.

There's another example of this style of shot on my blog.

All C+C welcomed. Merry Christmas to everyone.

Superb image Matt .......as you say the subject has lent itself to B+W. The eye detail is fascinating. Like this shot a lot and would look good blown up IMHO.
Merry Xmas and have a great 2012.
Nick.

I'm not a fan of B&W, I would much prefer it in colour (and 3D   ), although I can understand the appeal to the photographic monochrome appreciation fraternity international association :wink:.

Nicely caught, but I would love to see a colour version as well.

Matt

A very good B&W example and the larger one has the greater impact IMHO but I too would really like to see a colour version for comparison.

Fab. It makes a nice change in b&w which makes it stand out for me. :toast:

Love it as is Matt, very sci-fi. I think a perfect head-on shot (this one being very slightly skewed) would have even more impact (but easier said than done I realise!) :toast:
