I was wondering if anyone knows of a solution to cleaning the sensor in the field without the AC adapter. I've heard of people setting the camera on bulb, but I'd prefer another solution. Thanks

To my knowledge, the only way to clean the sensor without the AC adapter is by using the bulb setting. I think the safest way the manage this is to use the mc-30 remote release so you can lock the shutter open and not have to rely on hoping your finger doesn't slip off the shutter release and cause everything to slam shut. In fact, the only downside I can think of in using this method is that the sensor is energized, whereas it's not with the AC adapter.

Steve - in the field you can use the digital camera battery (http://www.digitalcamerabattery.com ). In fact if you can provide power to the same port as the AC power supply you can do it in the field.

If you're doing just a blower cleaning, you can set manual exposure to 30 seconds; again, this leaves the sensor charged so you're not doing as good a job as you could be... Scott has the apparent answer for the field, as the battery he links to uses the AC port on the camera...

I've had a terrible time trying to get an AC adapter for my D2X; everyone is out of stock on a semi-permanent basis it seems.

Thanks guys. The digital camera battery or a quantum turbo seen to be the only solution which is a little more than I want to invest or carry. I think I'll have to come up with my own solution.
