I knew I had a shot from where Mr. Kilgore says you cant see Sopris, the larger pull out towards the top. It's not a brillieant shot, but this was taken last June. Decide for yourself what you can and can't see.......

on the east side of McClure Pass, there is a sign, and I think there are actually two, with an arrow indicating a view of Mt. Sopris. However, the peak the sign(s) points to is the above.
Well, now that I've reread Darren's original post (with relevant portion excerpted above), I see the problem, and it's not us. There is a sign for Mount Sopris right about where Jody took the above photo. This is also the view I was referring to in my original responses when I talked about that turnout before you reach the actual pass. I have the same angle as above as a fall scene in my "Magnificent Colorado" book, although Sopris is in the clouds. In Darren's post he refers to a sign, or maybe two, on the EAST side of the pass (which we later clarified as the NORTH side of the pass) that incorrectly points to Sopris. But the sign near Jody's photo location, and my Google Earth image, does indeed point to Sopris. So I think the confusion here was made by Darren referring to a sign on the east (north) side of the pass, but he might not have been referring to the sign at THIS viewpoint. There apparently is another one that points to Hawk BM, but not where we are referring to. Then again, an argument could be made that since Darren referenced both signs on the east (north) side of the pass, this one would be included, which would mean I was right and he was wrong.
In other words, Darren may be correct if he's referring to some other sign on the east (north) side of McClure, but Jody and I are 100% correct that there is a sign on the (east) north side of McClure that does indeed point in the direction of a view of Sopris. In other words, we're all right, but Darren provided enough options in his original post to make that so.

Hence my suggestion for a Dutch treat.
I'm all for that. How 'bout we all meet up at the sign?
btw...this (these) thread(s) have been pretty amusing - the CNP equivalent of Who's On First? Thanks for the entertainment!
