Short Eared Owl.+ repost.
Nikon D7000
Nikon 300ml 2.8
1/50@f4
iso800.

Took this shot when it was nearly dark and i have kept the image more or less as shot without trying to brighten it ,don't know if i'm right or wrong but that's as i see it,please give me your views.
Difficult to get a decent shutter speed but i am pleased with the way my 7000 coped with it.

C&C please.

It certainly works for me. Great image of this beautiful bird.

Great capture considering the poor light  For me I would try to brighten it up a little and also remove the distracting twigs in the bottom right & left corners.

Keith

A well captured image this time of the year light can be even more of a problem in fact when is it not, but what a result you have. SEO in it's environment what more could you want?

Fine as it is for me, although the slightly distracting herbage could be removed if you have nothing better to do.

Tis a litle dark for me personally but this is a superbly detailed shot of a SEO. As mentioned the little twigs bottom right & left are a little distracting but they are no big deal. I would be very pleased with this image Keith.

Thanks for the tips guys it's one of those things i cant make my mind up about to leave the image more our less as i took it or change as in repost.

The purist in me says leave it as it is, but the repost is better, aesthetically, I must admit. I'm glad you had nothing better to do.

:wavey: I would be delighjted with either don't get me wrong but i do prefer the second as it is more vibrant and IMO makes for a more pleasing image :toast: :toast:

The second is definitely a better/stronger/more attractive image but it does make we wonder sometimes as to how true a picture we are now painting of our wildlife. As you rightly pointed out Keith, the first image was more of a true representation of how the owl was seen and yet, I'll wager that everyone, given the opportunity to view both, will immediately choose the reworked image.
A well caught image of a quite stunning bird.

It's a cracking shot of a SEO, with great detail and pose. I prefer the second. However, I'm not sure about the colour balance (maybe too magenta?) and it would be worth running noise reduction software on the background. Wish it were mine!

I do wish I had one on a post but they were not playing nice when I was over. :( so second one for me, great detail!
