As in Crazy Mountains :D I've driven past this mountain range number of times but this was the first time I got a chance to shoot and explore a little. It was actually a perfect day for it with highs in the 50s! The wind made it a little tougher but that's typical for the area. Is that why they're called Crazy Mtns? ;)
Unfortunately I 've gotten rusty with my camera skills since last time so I forgot to check my ISO, which somehow was set to 1250... Doh! So this one will not be getting a 40x60 canvas print
Also, since I'm on here I might as well mention for my fellow Montanans and anyone else in the driving vicinity of Bozeman, I have a few of my prints displayed at Wild Joe's Coffee on Main Street in Bozeman. We are planning on having an opening on January 26th and I would love to meet as many of you as I can. I know there are some lurkers on here who I'm supposed to be getting together with for some events. In either case, I will be planning more group activities and I'm working on a possible group show but this opportunity has been in the works since before I agreed to do the event coordination for MT and WY. But I still would like to see some of our forum members if they are around here (Dean S, I'm not singling you out but I know you're around here ).
Comments always welcome. Like I said, the noise might be an issue and I'm "on the fence" about the fence since it kind of splits the image but I thought just plain grass would be boring. And since it was my first time in the area I didn't have much time to explore composition options until after the light was gone.

Regarding the fence, I think it's crowding the base of the mountains. Bring your 12 foot step ladder with you next time
Ah man, i was kind of hoping you had really gone crazy and were off destroying art galleries or something...would have made
a much more interesting story to tell...
BTAIM, I like your crazy shot here, real pretty sky. I can take or leave the fence, dont think it hurts any.

Congrats on your display!
Great colors in the sky here. I generally like the fence. I think it adds a great deal of interest, but I think I may like this shot better as a pano crop...The fence seems weighty at the bottom in its current placement.
Great clouds and mountains Aleks, but I'm with Pam about the fence. It's nice to see someone shooting the Crazies, though, they're a spectacular range, I backpacked in there as a kid. Congrats on your display!

Looks like the Sangre de Cristos! First thing I thought was, I gotta find that frickin' fence! Sure, it's a little tightly woven into the bottom of the frame, but I'd rather have it there than not. Next time bring the ladder. It's a really pretty image that I'd be glad to call my own.
I don't think your 1250 iso automatically takes large prints out of the equation. There are ways to mitigate noise, and even if some of those mess with the detail a little bit, you'd likely not notice it, especially on a canvas print. Hang this sucker proudly!
Aleks- Hang it on the Wall- I like it as is. Lucky to be living in such a beautiful State! Great Colors by the way and good luck on the opening at Wild Joe's!
Nice shot Aleks, and congrats again on your showing. Nice colors in the sky. On the fence, the section on the left where it matches the line between the mountains and grass is where it doesn't work for me. Overall, very pleasing shot.

I knew it was only a matter of time before you went cr... oh, you mean the Crazy Mountains, of course... I'm on the fence about the fence, but I think the image works either way.
Hi Aleks! I think the Crazies were named after a crazy woman who wondered off into the mountains never to return. Interesting story. Nice shot! I love the sky and the mountains filled with snow which we haven't got much of this year. Great Montana fence line to.
What's the details on the show? I'll try and make it.

Interesting scene Aleks. Even though this is "Big Sky Country" the top half of the image doesn't hold my attention very much. I find that I'm loving this shot though with nearly the upper half of the frame cropped off putting the most vivid swath of clouds at the top; the fence becomes a more dominant foreground and both those elements combine more effectively to frame the mountain range.

IMHO this comp would have been just fine with grass and no fence.

I'm with Bob. This is definitely a real "Wall Hanger".
Check out Bret Edge's "Check List"...It's a good one.
