I am having a problem here and it is evident in some comments I am getting on my images. On my monitor using CS5 I see a great bright and very sharp image yet when I post online using the same computer and monitor the images look flat and not sharp. What is going on? Yes I got a new computer so I ask what it could be? I am converting to srgb as well. I'm bumming out over here. I also need to add that CS5 is also new from CS4 so Maybe I have the settings wrong? Seems this problem started at the time I updated to 5 as well as got a new computer. I confess my PS skill lack big time so I could use some help in what the color settings should read. Thanks so much as You are always soooo helpful.

I need a little help to help you Cheryl. What kind of computer, what model and what operating system and version?
Hi Jim and thanks for responding. I have a Lenovo desktop with windows 7 and an LG moniter that I've had for a couple years now. I just upgraded from CS4 to CS5 as well.

You did not mention whether you have calibrated your new system. That would be the first place I would start if it has not been done. Even if you are using the same monitor calibration is required since you have a new video card.

Cheryl - I'm not quite sure according to what you said; Can see the difference between PS and the web image yourself on your monitor? If that's the case, then it's likely that it's a problem with the browser. What browser are you using?

Your monitor hasn't changed, so I'm guessing it isn't the monitor. Take a look at the video card's control panel (or whatever it may be called) and see if the video card is controlling the color or not. For now, and possibly forever, I think you do not want the video card controlling the colors.
Here's another thing - do the images on the web look flat on other people's computer's? This is important, because if they look ok to others, then the issue is Color Management in your browser. Google something like "browser name color management plugin" (e.g., Firefox color management plugin) and see if it gets you to a plugin that you need to install.
Color Management can be a pain, since not all applications are color-managed. The short definition of Color Management is that the application, such as Photoshop, reads an image's embedded Color Profile to display the colors properly.

Thanks friends, Ok no I havn't calibrated although I attempted to. I have the spider 2 and my computer kept spitting out the software disc without installing it. My guess is it's not compatable with windows 7? I need to call them. Secondly yes the images look different on the same computer from my photoshop screen and the npn or other forum screens but still on my computer. When I pull up my latest post it looks dull but on my husbands laptop it looks great.
Hey Lance,
First thing I had to do was fix my settings for color management by using the settings a fellow photographer sent me online. Then i called DataColoir and they sent me a link that allowed me to download my anciant Spyder software. I then calibrated twice and vavoom new stuff!!! Now I have a new problem of course! My computer will not wake from sleep mode or at least the moniter wont. i have the settings for power saver to default. it worked before?????

I set all my power saving options to Never. You could try that and see if it works. It should, because the computer will never sleep. I use a screen saver and that's it.
Which application did you change for color management? What changes did you make, exactly? Thanks.

I had exactly the same problem with my Syder2express last week on my new Windows 7 pc.
I downloaded this link to my new pc and entered the original serial No. and it works fine.

Hope this helps, Gary.
For Firefox, I use this: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/color-management/?src=ss
What exactly did you change, Cheryl, so that we can all give it to others as needed?

The article contains general information on color management, as well as specifics for CS5 with respect to Preferences, soft proofing, and printing.
