Wind & stars in the Gorge
So … went to bed early tonight, then remembered the almost full moon----

Drove out to the gorge---40-50MPH sustained winds made it impossible to get a tack sharp image—maybe next month. (it was also 29 degrees) up at Crown Point---some of you know the place. I literally almost got blown over in gusts…maybe the strongest wind I’ve ever been in. Even the big Gitzo & RRS head wasn’t enough.

This is pretty much unusable since it’s not really as sharp as I want it. 4o second exposure at F4…… ISO 400

What a wild night ---image shot about 11:15pm last night( 2 hrs 15 min ago)

It may not be as sharp as you want but its a very cool shot. I don't recall seeing this comp of Crown Point before. It will be great to see the final image as you want it. Like said, hopefully next month.

Ditto what Steve said. It looks like a painting (just blurry enough ;-). Great composition on this. It would be interesting to try again at higher ISO (less star movement) or stopped down with star trails. Looks like you'll be heading to this location regularly.

Pretty mean conditions to work in, Jack! Nice try on this one, and glad you're out and back safely.

Really like the idea of the shot; looking forward to seeing the results with better conditions.

Very cool Jack! Definitely worth a return visit so you can make a huge print.
