Hey, everyone! Our annual shindig is less than amonth away (February 11) so I wanted to start getting some sign ups going to see who's coming and what they are bringing.
Please respond in the original thread HERE with the # attending and what you may be able to contribute. We need the following potluck contributions:
Appetizers
Desserts
Non-Alcoholic Beverages
Alcoholic Beverages

Brent will be putting out a map and directions on an event page VERY soon! Stay tuned! :toast:

A quick edit on the White Elephant guidelines:

For this year, we will leave the print exchange presentation up to the discretion of the photographer. If you want to bring a frame/plaque, that's fine. All presentations and sizes are welcome. After the shindig this year, we will put up a survey for all forum participants to evaluate what we should do in the future.

Why no plaques???

I have to agree with Pam on this one and question the White Elephant restrictions. Any particular reason for instituting no plaques or framed images? That sort of changes my strategy.

Count me with Pam and Bill on this one. Don't set a policy on what can be traded, leave it to the individual.

I have a suspicion that it's because everyone really gravitated to the plaques last year, sort of leaving the regular prints in the lurch by comparison. I, however, selected a matted print and I was last to choose so could've had any of the spectacular offerings my heart desired

I agree. Why ANY restrictions on size or finish?

Hey! I believe the decision against plaques/frames is to bring the focus back to the print exchange and so people aren't intimidated about bringing something. If you have specific questions about this, please contact the mods through email so they can be addressed! Thanks!

Yeah, I don't want to flood this post with replies on the white elephant since this is to point to the signup on the sticky.

Basically, from what I heard, a group of individual felt the white elephant was getting out of hand with some people bringing large images, framed and plaque images, etc. to the white elephant. Some of the folks who weren't able to make or afford to bring large and fancier images felt either intimidated or embarrassed that even though their work was excellent, it wasn't appreciated as much.

We, as mods, decided to limit size and mounting options in order to give everyone a fair shake. I acknowledge and understand that some people want to bless others with something special but I also understand the other side with those who are unable to
return the favor...make sense?

If anyone wants to email me on this, I will forward to the other mods and we can re-think it. I would just ask that we consider the whole situation and everyone in the forum. Thanks.

Please use email on this and lets keep this thread open to what Anne's intent was for the post.
