Flicker of Hope?
Still haven't pulled down the image I'm after of this beautiful bird.
I was surprised & unprepared when this Northern Flicker male landed..
Straight 300mm lens and a 50% crop. Plus the RT wingtip hit TRC :-(

Great capture Howard. It's tough enough to get a good shot of one standing still - let alone flying and posing in flight for you. Nice detail in the wings and tail with just the bird in sharp focus and the oof background.

I really like the position of the bird in flight, you can see all the primary's and wonderful color patterns that are rarely seen. You set a pretty high standard for yourself Howard but this is one us mere mortals would love to have in our portfolio. Keep 'em coming!

Great capture Howard.
The symmetry of the wings and feather markings make this outstanding.
Although I will continue to photograph birds I hate doing so. They are TDQ-TDS. (Too Damn Quick and Too Damn Small).

Here's one from the following morning, a bit closer, wings down..

Like the wing view on that first one. You nailed a nice one there.

Both nice shots, Howard, but I think I like the positioning of the first one a tad more. Sharpness and detail is outstanding.
