Hey!
The Print Exchange (aka White Elephant) has generated a lot of discussion lately. For this year, we will leave the print exchange presentation up to the discretion of the photographer. If you want to bring a frame/plaque, that's fine. All presentations and sizes are welcome. After the shindig this year, we will put up a survey for all forum participants to evaluate what we should do in the future. The shindig should be about having a good time mingling with our fellow photogs!
Since I have only been to one shindig and neither Brent or I have ever participated in the print exchange, we were hoping one of you veterans out there would be willing to manage the exchange? We want to make it run as efficiently and enjoyably as possible, but are unsure how to do this. We would greatly appreciate your help!
Please remember to RSVP in the original stickie HERE !!! We hope you can join us!

Has the print exchange ever been managed before? I always thought it always kinda ran on autopilot, where everybody just laid their stuff on/against the tables set up for it, and when the time was right, the mods announced for everyone to gather 'round for the white elephant.

Todd, that is exactly the type of help we need. Would you be willing to gather everyone together when the time is right and kick it off? Do you remember how many times people can "steal" an image? Thanks!!

...and when the time was right, the mods announced for everyone to gather 'round...
Hit me up when I'm there, and if anyone can remind me of the rules, I'll be glad to announce it all.
Thanks Todd. But Anne, you realize if we get Todd involved and in front of all these folks, all bets are off!
I think once we get rolling, we'll be fine. But if someone who's participated in the past can please remind us on what rules we've followed recently regarding how many times a print can be stolen until a new turn is started etc, we'd appreciate it. Anyone.... Bueller....anyone?
Looking forward to a fun night!

A print can be stolen one time per round and 3 times total. Or at least that has been how we have been doing it the last couple years. We usually have tickets that we put one in the basket and you take one if you brought an image. I am sure someone still has the roll of tickets. (Maybe Rich)
If you have any other questions about it feel free to ask.

Three times total steal? If that was a rule, I sure don't remember it ever being enforced, and it would be rather difficult to keep track of.

Someone mentioned yesterday that the players kept track and when a print could no longer be stolen, they turned it around so it wasn't up for grabs... Brent has the roll of raffle tickets and I was just going to print white elephant tickets separately. Good times!

OK, I missunderstood Jim's post.
A print can be stolen one time per round and 3 times total.
I took the wording to mean a specific print could only be stolen 3 times for the evening.
Last year they ruled each round could only have 3 steals. That was intended to move things along.
I actually liked the old rule of unlimited steals per round, but I can see the potential of things getting out of hand.

I remember the 3 steel rule per round from last year and that did move it a lot quicker than prior years.
