A new adventure! I love my photography, but, I just don't have the opportunity to get away from the house nearly as much as I'd like. That leads to frustration, ESPECIALLY when I come out here and see all the great photos being posted!!
So, I decided to try a new outlet to satisfy my bird angst. I used to do a a little bit of drawing back in high school and college, but, it's been 20 years. Over Christmas, I had time off, and decided to try drawing birds. I'd never done color before, but also wanted to try that. Here's one from today, a Peregrine Falcon.
I haven't been out shooting this year yet, but I've had some very enjoyable evenings drawing birds! I've started to put my bird drawings up on my website, along with my photos. So far, 7 drawings, all of species I don't have photos of! For me, it's another way to "capture" those species I haven't yet had the chance to see or photograph!

This is your calling Terry. Excellent composition, porportion and detail. It was my original intent to use photography as a base for my painting. Since then the photography has taken over and painting has gone by the wayside. You have inspired me to try painting again.

Impressive! I'm in awe of people who can do this sort of thing.

This is a talent you need to pursue! I like what you've done so far!
I've sort of put my carvings on hold to pursue photography...I feel like that's something I can do when I can't be out and about anymore. And, my photography has opened my eyes to many more details than I saw before...a plus for any artistic pursuit!
Good luck with this, Terry...I think it's great! Sharon
20 years and you pick up a pencil and do THIS?? Good Lord..
This is beautiful - you have an exceptional talent here, along with the photography, to balance the "scientist" side.
This could easily develop into a line of notecards, prints, or calendars if you ever want to pursue it.
Amazed,
Sandy

Excellent work after taking 20 years off! An excellent portrait artist once explained to me that you can spot true artists by the way they draw hands. The detail in the talons is excellent. I am awfully jealous. One of the reasons I use a camera is because I have not developed any skill at drawing yet. Thank you for posting it!

Beautiful, Terry. The eye contact and pose are great :). Like Greg, I use a camera because I can't hardly make a stick figure look good.

And you don't have to be frustrated by stray oof branches or reeds or other stuff blocking a key detail. Add me to the list of jealous photog's!
Please, please keep it up and show 'em off!
