I have been trying to prepare a portfolio of images (many) for a website, into jpeg format from my library of photos. The web site host requires jpeg format. I process the photos in LR, then PS Elements (primarily for sharpening of key areas) then I finish in NX for conversion to jpeg. However, the problem I am encountering is that I will convert the photos to sRGB and yet they will appear as adobe or nikon RGB. I have done all the tweaking of color and sharpening by this stage, so if the color space isn't right they will appear flat and off color when seen by some/all computer monitors viewing them on the net. The photos I am talking about were captured in jpeg and in more recent times, raw format, in sRGB and in some cases adobe RGB color space. So, a mixed bag in other words. My understanding is that I must convert to sRGB not remove and apply the sRGB profile. I know this should be fundamental stuff, but it's not going to plan. What to do??

I am not sure what's going on, but here's my SWAG...NX is assigning the color profile to the jpeg.

You might try converting the camera RAW files to jpeg first, open the jpeg in LR and then PS. In PS, convert the color profile to sRGB and save.

If the file is already a jpeg, skip the first step, proceed with LR and PS, as above.

Note that I do not use LR or PS Elements, I do all this stuff in CS5, but it does work.

You didn't mention which browser you are using, but I certainly get better rendition of images in Firefox.

Every time you open and close a jpeg it gets compressed again. So each time, you lose quality, so you don't want to convert to jpeg until the final round if there is any alternative.

Gary, I think Preston's on the right track. Try taking NX out of the flow.

Please let us know, so that others can benefit if they run into this issue. It seems color space / color mgmt is popping up a lot lately.

Thanks guys for your suggestions. I have found that using just PS Elements "Save for Web" to work just fine for getting the photos into sRGB. I hadn't tried it before but so far seems to be the answer for getting the color space and resizing set. NX was making the process complicated. Thanks also to Wayne Simpson for his advice.
