OT: My Photos from the Andes!
I'm sorry I've been MIA from posting the last few months; I've been traveling in Chile and Argentina since September! But I'm glad to be back home in Colorado now, and I just spent three days glued to the computer going through my photos from the trip.

Check them out here: http://www.widerange.org/gallery/andes-adventure-2011/

Also, be sure to check out the larger photo to see a pano of the same scene! It was one of the most glorious mornings I've ever experienced in the mountains.

Oh, and please let me know if you think the colors are funky - I've been tinkering with my new monitor's calibration and I think I've got it nailed down now, but not sure. The monitor shows a lot more colors and color detail in the highlights than the sRGB web files, so it's proving a bit difficult to generate the web files, especially for bright scenes like this. (But it really was incredibly saturated colors in person!)

Thanks for looking. :wavey:

Here's another one of my favorites, but be sure to check out that link; there's like 50 of them!

By the way, to give some sense of the massive scale in these scenes, in this photo, the peaks rise 6,500 vertical feet higher than the lake!!! In the top photo, the summit is 6,000 feet higher than the peak I'm standing on, and I'm staring right at it all! It's pretty mind boggling...

The colors look fine on my monitor.

WICKED collection, Jack! Im totally jealous.
Here's my favs: Salar de Aguas Calientas, Frozen Aguas Calientas, Laguna Chaxa Sunset, Valle de Agua Calientas, Glaciar Grey Pano, Las Torres Overlook, Las Torres Lunar light, and Laguna Martillo sunset. Whew...im exhausted! I also like the Fitz Roy stuff, but IMO the ones i listed are the prize winners. Now i want to see a Himalayan collection from you (and take me with you if you go! )

Thanks all!

Stan - I would LOVE to go to the Himalayas... not gonna happen this year though, I'm sick of traveling!

An awesome collection from what must have been an amazing trip. Between your trips to S.America and Norway you have some of my absolute favorite images. I could list them, but it would just keep going on and on....

Another excellent trip with some awesome images.

So where ya going in 2012?

Posted by Jack Brauer on January 16, 2012 at 6:37 PM
Darren - hopefully nowhere! I realized recently that I spent more time abroad this year than I did at home! Mostly it's because my fiancé lives in Germany. But I'm sick of traveling and I probably won't do any big trips abroad anytime soon. I'd love to get back to the Wind Rivers this summer, but that's about as far ahead as I can think...

Wow, amazing work! I love the following photos Cuernos Moonrise, Salar de Aguas Calientes, Valle de Aguas Calientes, Las Torres Lunar Light, Fitz Roy Sunrise #2, Cerro Torre Reflection #4 and not particularly in any order. They are all breathtaking though! Would love to visit someday...it's on my bucket list. My brother lives in the Santiago area, so luckily I have some place to lay my head. Thanks for sharing those. I think your colors are probably true to what you saw! Breathtaking! :toast:

Awesome stuff, Jack, I've really enjoyed following your blog the last few months, and it's a lot of fun to see the retrospective. My off the cuff favorites are Salt Curve, Parinacota Sunset Panorama, Las Torres Lunar Light and Cerro Torre Reflection #4.

This is a great collection but I really think your sunrise images from that incredible morning at Fitz Roy stand in a special place. A couple of them could be desaturated a tiny bit but I suspect that is an srgb issue. Truly outstanding stuff!

Simply put. WOW! Incredible photography, Fitz Roy beautifully basked in alpenglow is my fav!

Great trip and great scenes. Just a quick view gave these as my quick favorites: Salar de Aguas Cauentes, Parin Acota Dawn reflection, Cuernus Moontise, Poincenot Reflection.

What a fabulous collection of images, Jack! And, I just pulled myself away from your blog after 30 minutes. I now have a bad case of wanderlust. Welcome back.

I would say that was quite the productive trip.....Holy Smokes Jack, that's some serious Landscape Photography! I don't have a favorite, many of them are about perfect. This is one of those collections I right click save the URL and send it out to Family.

Welcome back Jack! Ridiculously beautiful display of images. Too many awesome photos to name but the Fitz Roy sunrise images are stunners. Cerro Torre Reflection #4 and Laguna Chaxa Sunset are also among my favorites.
