Just wondering if anyone has any sources (online or personal) for wildflowers. Is AZ having much of season, is it over? I will be there this weekend and was wondering if anything is going on in the Phoenix area or within an hour or two radius?

This is the best resource I've found for wildflowere updates in the southwest: DesertUSA. It does not look promising for your trip, if the reports are accurate (which they were quite accurate last year).

You missed the Phoenix area bloom by over a month. I don't know how this season was but typically wildflowers bloom in late February and into March around Phoenix. Wildflowers in the north (Flagstaff area) won't bloom until June/July. It hasn't been a very good season for precipitation so I wouldn't hold out too much hope. :frown:

Hi, I live in Tucson and can give you a personal report. Saguaros currently have buds and some blossoms (though not the profusion as last year). Ocotillos still are topped with red blossoms. Palo verde trees are blooming, but sweet acacia are done blooming. Some opuntia (prickly pear) species are blooming and some are getting ready to (though this might be limited to those that received irrigation). Brittle brush is pretty much done blooming, or looking pretty ragged by now.

Bret is right about the Feb/March season for wildflowers, but sadly it did not happen this year due to a winter of no precipitation.

Have a good trip and happy shooting!

Thanks everyone! I assumed it was probably over, but thought I would check. Its not a photo trip anyway, but figured if there was something going on I'd try to squeeze it in.
