Nice to see one in habitat and not on a stick ! The focus seems off on the small one but spot on when you view the large version. Did you re sharpen when posting the small one ?
Shows the value of having the large option.
Some will not agree

Have to agree with John, the small version does look soft but the large version is brilliant. A lovely setting, superb detail (on large version) and a great catchlight in the eye bringing it to life. I was going to say I would prefer to see more space to the left but the more I look at it the more the current crop seems to work despite the bird looking the 'wrong' way so to speak. :toast:

Super shot, love the inclusion of all the pine.

Thanks for the comments........I did forget to re-sharpen the smaller version before posting it hence the slight softness. Thanks for the comments re composition. I really liked the pine cones on the left of the Crestie so I decided to leave most of them in even though the bird had less space to its left. Wasn't sure about the balance but I also think the pines add that extra something to counterbalance the image.

Hi Nick I like them but the first one is the best for me.

Thanks Phil & John. Would have liked to get more images in amongst the cones but they are so quick and by the time you get them in the viewfinder they are away again and you get a cracking picture of an empty tree! Will try again hopefully soon.

Both good in my opinion, but I prefer the second.

Spoilt for choice here. Both are excellent and have their individual merits dependent on usage. If forced to choose I'd probably opt for the second.

Both lovely shots! If I had to choose it would probably be the second, as this gives a clearer view of the bird. The first is great too though, the frost and pine cones make a really nice setting.

I like both. The second is for me by a whisker as it is just a bit more pleasing on the eye

Both great, but I do prefer the one on the stick if I had to choose. I too have done the 'empty tree' shot with these many times!
