As some of you probably know, Jack Roberts was a legendary ice climber/alpinist from Boulder. He died climbing BridalVeil Falls in Telluride a couple days ago, fell 60 feet, broke his hip and went into cardiac arrest. Unclear what caused the fall. This is a bummer for me--Jack's book 'Colorado Ice' is one of my favorite guide books, not because i'm a climber (only gone ice climbing a couple times) but because it was loaded with inspirational photos from photographers like Ace Kvale etc, really inpiring stuff that made me want to get out every Winter to hit some frozen falls. So, his influence extended beyond the climbing community to anyone who loves the Colorado in Winter. I'm sorry i never got to meet him. :frown:

That's a bummer, Stan. Hadn't heard of him or heard of the incident. I'm shocked the falls are even climbable right now.

I photographed Pam and Jack's wedding in the early 1980s, and Jack did some modeling as an ice-climber for me many years ago, so I feel his loss as well.
