Frustration
Another from last Saturday just to highlight the frustrations I usually experience with my photography. This is one of the two young otters (presumably last years cubs) which have been showing well at a local site along with their mother. This cub had swum underwater along the edge of the stream before surfacing amongst the bankside vegetation. It paused long enough to take a picture but its position meant a horrible bramble stem covering its face. Better to take the shot when presented rather than risk moving position and missing it altogether.
Incidentally I was back down there very early on Tuesday morning and the three were showing at one stage but as the light finally became bright enough for photography they were becoming more elusive. As a result I came away with a few blurred shots but once again some great viewings.
Talking with another local later on he confirmed my suspicions that the older bitch otter appears pregnant. If that is the case then she will probably be driving the cubs away soon. I shall be back down there as soon as work permits to take advantage of what must surely be a pretty unique opportunity with such co-operative animals.

PS. This is about a 60% crop to take out most of that bramble.

What a stunning shot Robert! I am sure some computer expert could work on that naughty bramble and clone the rascal out but not withstanding the bramble the eye contact is just fantastic. Keep at it my friend and you will get the shot you want......who knows you may be photographing eensy weensy otters soon!

Stick with it Robert as 'all good things come to those who wait' Not quite in the Otter frustration league but I spent 3 sunny hours in my bag hide yesterday watching 3 SEO's through my bins. They eventually came over to say hullo but by then it was nearly dark :frown:

May be not the best picture but the experience is worth a lot.
I've never seen them.

Great stuff! I can empathise after my own experience a couple of years ago when I stumbled across a family of four in a river - in FOG!! Frustrating indeed! Looking forward to seeing more.
