Try Out
Siskin coming down to woodland pool. Taken this afternoon on the first session with the Nikor 70-300 VR
Looks ok as far as definition goes but not tried the VR yet.
Pity the zoom is not internal especially working at a pool hide.
Not bad for the price though - £399. It takes the 1.4 ccoverters too ! (Sigma and Kenco ) Which it is not supposed to.
At least on the 70mm end I can get the biggerstuff in, being so near to the pool edge.
Background crap but was more bothered about trying the lens.
D7000 Nikor 70-300 mm
ISO 640 180th sec @f8
Contrast and EV down 1 in camera.
60% of full frame.
Processed Paint Shop Pro 7
Neat image.
No sharpening except usual when downsizing for this site.
Please view the BIGGIE.
Cheers

I have always been very pleased with my 70-300VR, although I think the VR only works every third or fourth shot if you take a burst of photos. Interested to read what you say about the 1.4x, I have never tried one on mine. It sounds as though it may be worth a go.

Hi John, is this lens replacing your Sigma 100-300 f4 or is it in addition? This government must be paying you old un's too much pension !!!!

Thanks both
Robert- no its an addittion. Mainly just for the woodland pool . Its also a lot lighter than the other and with close up lenses its almost a macro . It will save a lot of bag space and the VR might be useful. A bat survey paid for it so its no big deal. Some people pay several thousands for lenses I hear !!  I bet they get good pics !!

Both Canon and Nikon 70-300 lenses are good, very carryable too. Of course in some cases it is the tog who takes the picture ;)
