Farewell.... Just for a while
:wavey: Well my friends it is with a heavy heart that I am saying farewell, just for a while. As it so happens in media lay-offs and transfers happen more frequently than in the military. I was recently laid off at KOAA but they at least wrote a glowing referral and that secured me a job in an even stronger media market. I have been spending the last few weeks interviewing all over the country and I was just hired by WHAS in Louisville Kentucky.

A Far cry from the Colorado I have known as home my entire life, but not a completely new thing for me after spending most of my life all over the world in the military.

I start my first day there on Feb 13th and actually depart here Feb 4th to get settled into our new home. I'll pop in from time to time to see how the group I was one of the 1st 10 members of, is progressing. I may even fly back here from time to time too.

Kentucky and the Ohio River area will offer me a wide range of different things to focus my passion for photography on as well. So if inclined, please stop into MWNP forum and say hey! :toast:

Best of luck, James! We will require that you post some pics of flowers and streams and all manner of living things that are green from time to time.

Glad that you found a job. Kentucky would not be my cup of tea but it will give you an entirely different type of photo ops. Enjoy your new location in Lullvull or however the heck they pronounce it!

Best of luck, James. Gotta go where the paycheck is; I understand that predicament very well.

James, from your "lemon" there is some pretty good "lemonade". You'll be experiencing a whole new photographic experience with your reasonable proximaty to such places as Shenandoah NP, Great Smoky Mountains NP, the Outer Banks, Blue Ridge Parkway, Charleston & Savannah and more. Get those maps and your imagination ready. And, now, you're within striking distance of New England, as well.

Good luck James. Many decades ago I took basic training at Ft Knox just outside of "Loo-uh-vul" (There ya go Pam) and the countryside from there down to Lexington is very photogenic. I'm sure you'll find a wealth of subjects.

I have begun to fill out my calendar with dates and places to go in their prime just in Kentucky and Tennessee alone. That will fill my first year there getting to those hot spots then yes a trip to the North East and East Central Coast are in the bill. I've lived out there 43 years ago at Fort Campbell and later when training with FEDEX I was in the area again. When I lived in Virginia, I drove around there a lot too on weekends so I know well what I'm going to have the blessing to see and shoot.

And come visit us here in Arkansas. Northwest AR has beautiful hills (I was going to say mountains but you being from Colorado.....ha!) along with gorgeous waterfalls and many fascinating blooms in the spring and summer.

Plus, Dottie lives there!

Good luck with the move! I lived in Louisville for a year or some some 20 years ago. I actually thought Louisville was a really neat town. You are not too far from very scenic horse country to the east toward Lexington.
