Nick has found the problem I was having and the fault was mine. The file size of my small image was 800 pixels, whilst the limit is 720. The software has to make a conversion and something happens that changes the colour. Must remember next time! Many thanks to Nick and others for their help and perseverance.
lol.. Stick to the rules and you're safe, but step outside and welcome to the Twilight Zone..... where strange things happen
At least it's sorted now!

Hi John
It's the NPN software that automatically resizes the file I believe. In so doing, it apparently loses the embedded colour profile - at least that's how I understand it!
Nick and I seem to recall that it wasn't possible previously to post a file larger than 720p (apart from the large version of course)

Ian
Thats exactly why I asked. It used to say the image was too big.
Cheers
John
On second thoughts, it was possible to post an oversize image in these forums as it was one thing that Tom & I used to pull people up for (and still do ). I think it was the newer IC gallery code that had some checks built in.
The NPN code shouldm't/isn't resizing the image, but something is happening behind the scenes which is meaning the embedded profile is being lost .
Anyway, upshot is... stick to the rules and everything is ok
