Kiwanda Detail
The last time I was at Cape Kiwanda I skunked on a colorful sunrise, so I played around with the light spilling on the sandstone as the sun rose. Not my usual type of photography, so any and all thoughts appreciated.

Nice John---I'd loose the upper right corner... I love this stuff.

This is quite nice. I would consider cropping from the right to eliminate that dark corner (or else bring the shadows up in that area). A lovely abstract and the beginning of a natural alphabet!

Terrific shot! I've collected a few pieces of "picture sandstone" from Utah, but didn't know you could find it in WA.

I like it as well, but agree the the upper right corner is so different from the rest of the image that it is distracting.

Not usual for you, but the way I see this photo, you could easily expand your repertoire!! Beautiful color, a fabulous design to look at, glowing light-- it's all there. As good or better than the no-show colorful sunrise! The only nitty comment is about the upper right corner.Perhaps a crop from the top would lose that part without compromising the design/comp too much?Just that it's a small, out of place, piece of darkness and competing color that doesn't want to play nice with the rest of the comp.
Can't wait to see what you'll come up with next, when what you're looking for doesn't happen.

Beautiful shot John. Very Tony Kuyper -ish. :toast:

Thanks for the feedback everyone! I'll play with fixing or getting rid of that upper right corner, and may pop it over to Landscape one of these days.

I agree with Jack about the URC John, and I might tone down the highlights just a tad. Then I would definitely post it in ESS. Tony K would love this!

Hey, yeah, John. How about just adjusting the brightness in that urc instead of dropping it out. I think the design stays more complete that way. Sure do like all that glow in there! A good post for Landscape for sure!
