I am picky. On the one hand, I like all of them, yet each one has something wrong with it in my eyes. I guess that's why it is so hard for me to make a decision :-)

I like #2, it seems to be the best balanced and the snow in the foreground is illuminated nicely. Its tough to pick through your own work, I think we all can understand that. Have you tried these as B&W?

Interesting series. I prefer #3 because the twin trunks provide an anchor of sorts for the more chaotic frosted branches.
As noted, see if a b&w conversion might help you with your decision.

I'm wit John on Number 3. The trunks pull me into the image. I also would like to see a B/W on this.

I like #6 best if the lower bit of snow/road is cropped off. It has a very feathery and ethereal feel. Except for 1 and 5 I think I would crop the sliver of snow from the bottom of the rest.

#2 gets my pick for the same reasons Paul described. #3 is nice, but the trees in the middle make it a bit too much of a 50/50 split comp for my taste, though with a little of the right side and top cropped off I think I would like it better. Nice shots Corinna.

I like #2 and #5 the best, they seem to have more balanced compositions to me.

I prefer #1.
#2 is also very nice but I think the composition is a bit static compared to #1.
In #3 the largest aspen boles are too centered for my taste.
In #4 the sliver of snow in the foreground isn't quite enough to anchor the composition.

I like #5 but I wonder if you could have pointed the camera a little more to the left.
#6 is nice too but I think it needs more weight at the bottom.
Altogether, this is a fine collection of shots.

Thank you all so much for your feedback. Sometimes I select on a more intuitive level and hearing your reasons helped me analyze the images more. The lack of grounding was one issue I had, but I liked the trees. In others, the trees did not quite make it.
It was interesting for me that this was the only area that had hoar frost. Mostly the trees were 'snow blasted', one side the snow stuck to it, the other was free of snow. My friend and I saw this grove on the way down the mountain as the sun was getting low.
I will sit with your evaluations and have another critical look at the images and make a decision for the final 1 to max 3 images.

I like them in the order presented (#1 is my fav) although 6 would even be up there if you cropped the bottom. Cool set.

3 then 1 for me. What beautiful scenes.

1&4. On 4, maybe crop off the few branches poking in on the right side, and add a little to the left side and bottom snow if you have some to add back.

18 repliesRecently, I was out shooting the hoar frost on the aspen. I would like feedback on which one you like the best.
Thanks!
Sorry for the double upload. My browser stalled.
