Has anyone had the chance to use a Redged Tripod? If so, what do you think of the quality?
I'm interested in purchasing this one for travel:

Would appreciate any thoughts...
Thanks, Sharon

What do you need the tripod to support, in term of gear?

24-105, 100-400, 500 Any of those mounted on a 50D. Really trying to save as much weight as possible and hoping this will substitute for my gitzo, just for travel.

I've never used (or seen, for that matter) that brand of tripod, so take this impression for what you consider it to be worth. Looking at the specs, it has a maximum height of 53", which it gets to via raising a center column. If you treat it as a very stable monopod, I think you'll be okay with the 100-400. I would have very serious concerns about putting a 500 on it with the cernter column raised and especially if you walk away. It is going to be extremely top heavy with all of that weight basically balancing at a point. I don't think won't take much settling of the tripod in sand, soft soil or grass for it to tip. That center column is really my concern in reading the specs and comparing with what you want to put on it.

Thanks for your thoughts on this Dan...I appreciate it. This love/hate relationship between me and my tripod is going to have to end...looks like I'm gonna have to bite the bullet and carry they heavy one. :)
