Hi everyone I am planing trip to Monte Vista refuges in second half of march, I am just wondering if anybody can give me some suggestions about the hotels, breakfast inns or camps in the area...!? Thank you! Verdon!

Hey Verdon, I stayed in the best western in Alamosa and then took Hwy 285 to CR 370 to Hwy 15 to get to the refuge. It's pretty close. There are a lot more motels in Alamosa cause there is a college there on main St and if you stay near 285 it's a quick drive to the refuge. There is also a cool best western in monte vista probably the same distance to the refuge called Best Western Movie Manor. The have a drive-in movie theater that all the rooms face and the show movies at night that you can watch from your room. Don't know how much it is to stay. I think my room at the Alamosa best western was fairly cheap. Something like $65 a night. You can go to www.fws.gov/Alamosa and you can get maps of the refuge. The cranes are amazing! I'd post one of my pictures but I'm doing this on my iPhone. There are many designated pull offs with great viewing of the cranes morning and afternoon. Let me know if you have other questions.
