I've had a few people inquire about the 2nd annual RMNP Moab Spring Fling. I thought I'd post a quick update for those who are planning to attend this year.

YES...I am most definitely planning an event this year! I don't have dates yet but I will post them here as soon as they're confirmed. I've got a week long trip to Flagstaff in mid-May for the Overland Expo so we're likely looking at late May or even early to mid-June.

Stay tuned...

count me in!

Sweet! At least now I know I won't be the only one attending, Jack.

I've got plans for May 25 through June 4. Any time before or after would be great. I'd love to attend again.

I camped at Crystal Geyser last night on my way back from Nevada.
Some great morning light. Even had ice flows on the Green River!
For those who have never been there, it might be a nice side trip to consider during the Spring Fling.

Deb: Last year we held the first annual RMNP Spring Fling in Moab. It was loosely organized and consisted primarily of a bunch of RMNP'ers getting together for a day to do some photography, hiking, BS'ing and we had a short workshop on using Nik Software plug-ins to process images. We also had a picnic lunch at the local city park. This year it'll be more of the same but possibly two days and a bit more structured (maybe). Regardless of the details it's a blast to get together with the very cool peeps who make this forum so awesome.

I was planning to be there around the last week of May anyway, so I may be able to make it this year.

I have class in Salt Lake the second week (I think) of May again, so I'll be in the area the weekend before and after. If the Fling doesn't land on one of those, I'll likely still drive back over. Good time last year and there's always so much to shoot there. Looking forward to it!

I'll be there if I'm free on the dates chosen :)

Not sure how others feel about Memorial Day weekend but starting my PNW mega trip with a weekend in Moab would be fantastic.

Thanks Bret! Since it takes 8 hours to drive there I would have to think about maybe making it a camping trip for me and just meeting up with you guys.Sounds like a blast and how can you go wrong with a trip to Moab! I'll keep looking for the details. Thx! Blessings, Deb

Would like to see some more work flow and processing workshops as well as work in the field. Two days sound great.

I'm in, if I can get an extra day off!

Thanks for all the feedback, everyone. I'd love to do more workflow stuff, too. Just need some volunteers to take the lead on it. Any takers?

I volunteer John Mumaw!

I second that, Jack! Especially if he brings another amazing chocolate cake. :-)

I dunno...I think if John brings some more of that killer chocolate cake it would exempt him from any further responsibilities and probably entitle him to a photo assistant to schlep his gear around for him.

Sadly I will not be able to attend an event in late May or early June. Good luck Bret and look forward to the following year.

Well, I doubt I can make late May as I'm still teaching then. Possibly. But then, I'm getting married on June 2nd in Zion, doing a two-day run across Zion from Lee Pass to East Rim on 5th and 6th (25 miles each day, camping at Lava Point). I might be moving houses in mid-June. Nope, don't think I can make that.

I'll be down there for the Moab Photo Symposium, though, if anyone's going to that.

Bret: The weekend of the Photo Symposium, or possibly another one, I'd like to try to cross paths with you -- not only to see the new gallery, but to toss around some other ideas as well. I'll email you when I have a better idea of timing.

Hi Bret,

Any possibility of an April date instead? I was hoping to visit when there is still snow on the mountains.
