Tele-extender with Canon 100-400 Telephoto

Has anyone had experience using the Canon 1.4x tele-extender with the Canon 100-400L telephoto? I know it will not autofocus, but for some bird shots I'm ok with manual focusing.

Thanks for any input you might have.

I have found the 1.4x TC with the 100-400 to be a poor combination. At 400mm the 100-400 is not that sharp to begin with. Adding the 1.4x makes things considerably worse in my experience. I had the 100-400 and sold it in favor of the 400mm 5.6 prime. Much sharper lens to begin with. Hope this helps.
