Red Fox with Woodcock
Was out today for Bitterns and could not find them as they had been cutting the reed bed so instead i decided to spend some time at one of my Red Fox sites and this turned out to be time spent well..

Top shot Jeroen. Did you get one with it holding the bird?

An excellent natural history image Jeroen. Normally I would say it's a bit tight in the frame but the inclusion of the prey item makes the close up essential so I reckon it's a top shot.

Thanks for your comments guys!
To Bob: I have serveral images from this series and also with a tad more space around and the Fox holding the prey but liked this one more because of the tongue and the look as if it is saying "I have just been to Mc Donalds and got me a big fat hamburger"... :jump:

Jeroen

The eyes and tongue make the shot the image would not have the impact unless large in frame IMHO.

I agree, the fox is perfectly sized in the frame, and the eyes and tongue make it a very special capture.
Best wishes

Quite superb. I agree it's the tongue and the eyes that make it an outstanding image.
