I have read on this forum about storing JPEGs to CD for backup... also DVDs as well.

I have no problem with CDs but what about DVDs?... am I missing something here, do you need special software to copy JPEG files to a DVD (assuming I have a burner, which I do).?

Any info is greatly appreciated.

Most software that burns CDs will also burn DVDs.

What operating system do you have? Mac or Microsoft? There are tons and tons of programs out there that will write to CD and DVD. I can only speak for a Microsoft operating computer, but they have a built-in package that will write to CD and DVD... You just go to the folder that contains the files you wish to burn to media, high-light the files and in the task window to the left click on "copy the selected items". This will open a window which gives a list of the drives available to you. Mine shows both my CD and DVD burners. The most important thing is... whatever media you decide to

Nero and Roxio are the most widely used. But do a search on google or ask. You'll get tons of links...!

Oh and roger... a data file is a data file no matter what format or extension it has. The only files you may have trouble copying to CD or DVD are copyrighted music files from the original CD or movies files. I'm not certain on the later since I nerver burn music or movies anyway.

Good luck:

Part of the answer, too, is that DVD's hold way more files than CD's. With the larger and larger MP files, this makes a big difference. Sandy R
