Here is an image I took a few years ago of my large format camera set up on a cliff over looking the Rio Grande, waiting for sunset. The image I was trying to make with the large format camera did not turn out like I had hoped (the having to wait three weeks for the film to be processed thing) but this image always made me think that it was a successful day.
Something about it has always made me want to head west.
Anyway, I have done some revamping of my large format photography blog and had to post this image. So if you have any interest in checking out anything large format landscape photography related, check it out and tell me what you think.

Hey Darren, That looks like a very risky spot to have the camera. One strong gust of wind and it would be one heck of a climb down to retrieve what was left. I like the idea of the shot but the lighting sure didn't cooperate. It looks like it is tilted to the left.. A location worth a return trip or two.

Merle, camera was very level when I was taking the pic. I think what we see here is a little bit of an optical illusion.
The tripod is a solid Gitzo that I feel confident enough in to do things like this. The sunset we got that night was a great one even if it had not started when I shot this.

Awesome place Darren. We are going to Big Bend in May, want to share where this was? We are going on a Motorcycle trip but also planning on shooting some if you want to come down and join us.
