My friend Paul who works at the Boyce Thompson Arboretum posted this report about poppies coming into bloom near Superior.

Thanks for the info Doug, I read that before heading out today, went to lost dutchman state park and there are some nice patches of poppies blooming, with the forecasted rain, there should be a boost in blooms over the next two weeks, should be peaking around mid march.

I am thinking of heading to Superior this weekend of the 18th. I have a call into Paul.

Superior is apparently having a great bloom already from the looks of some photos I've seen, though they have a nice bloom every year.

Bill, you should be coming just in time for the peak of the show especially in the lower desert.

The AZ State Parks do some flower updates to cover Lost Dutchman/Superstitions, Picacho Peak, and Boyce Thompson state parks.

I saw that the other day before I headed out, they were 100% accurate at lost dutchman too, the only area I saw any blooms were the areas mentioned. I'll probably head back up there in a few days to see if there is significant change.

Thanks for the links, Doug. I'll be down there in about 3 weeks. I missed the wildflowers at the Superstitions last year, but it certainly looks good for this year.
