Anyone got any feed back on wordpress templates for Dummies? I am looking for a template /hosting combo for nature photos for people who do not know anything about HTM or other computer codes. I don't have time to learn all that programming and want something easy to upload and change the look of quite often.
Any help or insight on this is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance
Lindy

I've looked into to this a little bit and when I'm ready I may go with Zenfolio. I don't know if they are the easiest but they seem to be the most versatile. Don't know anything about wordpress. Good luck and I would be interested in how it goes for you.

Lindy: Really depends on what you are trying to do. If you want a website to showcase your photos for sale, one of the photo websites like smugmug or zenfolios is pretty "user-friendly." My website is smugmug and I was able to do simple customizing, but you don't need that. Zen seems to be similar.

Wordpress is a blogging software. They have a free hosting site, or you can use Wordpress software on a site where you find your own host. The latter allows for much more customization, but also generally requires more "programming." The free hosted sites are very easy to use with a fair amount of variety. I have two of them. One is a full-blown blog with written articles. The other is a photo only site which displays one photo at a time (I post a new one weekly). Getting your photos uploaded is pretty easy an there appears to be a lot of room for image storage if you use reasonable sized jpegs.

Another, slightly different option is Flickr. They have a limited size free site and their "pro" packages are reasonable. You can organize your Flickr stuff in different ways, and it appears that Flickr can get your stuff viewed pretty widely, also. I have an account there, too.

Lindy,

I see you already have a Smugmug site. Is there a reason you're looking at Wordpress? As Andy points out Wordpress is primarily a blogging template/tool. I have a Wordpress blog and at least from my point of view is NOT photo friendly. You don't need to know any code or programing per se, but it's rather klugey IMHO when it comes to photos. I would not recommend it for anything bug having a blog. Way more complicated with add-ons(widgets) if you want to customize. Personally, I think Zenfolio has a pretty good product. Having built and coded my own site by hand over the years I don't have a need for Zenfolio. Check out [url=http://www.kylekrausephotography.com]Kyle Krause's Zenfolio[.url] site for an example. I know he's happy with it's features.

Hope this helps, good luck.
