Great little bird and well caught Ian. Unless you draw them in to feeders and artificial perches you have to accept where they decide to perch. I often find the more 'natural' shots to be just as appealing as the perfect 'studio' type shot. At least you have a nice uncluttered background and the bird itself looks excellent.

Like it !
Much preffered to a "set up " perch, but we all do it
Wrens come to pools frequently by the way -often to feed.

OK, maybe the perch isn't ideal, but it does at least look natural, and you have a good background and a sharp bird in a pleasing post. I think most of us would be more than happy with a wren picture like that.

Yes I agree that the perch whilst not perfect does look natural and of course a pleasing BG and sharp bird carry the day

Colors and detail on the Wren are superb but you would have to ask him to land on a better perch next time..

Cracking image of Jenny Wren Ian............ sharp as a pin, great BG and lighting and the branch is OK for me as it is in its natural setting. Wish they would come in my garden!

Hi Ian,
I agree with your own self critique and would treat him or her to a new perch ! Nice and sharp where it needs to be and a good background. A Wren in flight is on my project wish list. I'll post one here soon to show you how I am getting on.
Cheers

Great picture. I agree with the comments so far re: the perch. But that being said, I'd still be very, very pleased to have this in my collection!

Perch already mentioned. Wren is a restless bird and not easy at all! You did a good job here.
