After talking with some of you at the Shindig, there seemed to be a great deal of interest in a sunset shoot at Mayflower Gulch this winter. I have never snowshoed up there before, but it sounds like a lot of fun! Here are the details:
Who: Everyone is invited! Bring your friends! What: Sunset shoot at Mayflower Gulch with Dinner at Beau Jos in Idahoe Springs to follow. Where: Meetup at the Mayflower Gulch turnoff near Copper Mountain When: Saturday, March 10 (Take off time TBD) Why: Because it's beautiful!
You will need snowshoes or skis to get up to Mayflower. The hike is 1.7 miles one way on a gradual incline the whole way. If you can hike, you can snowshoe! If you don't have snowshoes or skis, you can rent snowshoes at REI for $15/pair/day. That is for one full day, not including pick-up and drop-off days (so you get them Friday and return them Sunday for $15).
I'll post a link to some pictures and a map of where we're going. If you have an idea of what time we should meet at the parking area, I'm open to suggestions! I hope you can join us!

Thanks for getting this organized Anne. Looks like a lot of fun. If anyone hasn't been to Mayflower in the winter they are missing out. This is a wonderful place to get some great shots of old mining buildings and mountains in the snow. I definitely recommend it and you can't go wrong with Beau Jos pizza afterward too!

Thanks for posting this Anne. Sadly, I already have snowshoe plans that day (up in RMNP), so won't make it. Bummer, as this is a favorite spot of mine in the winter (summer too, for that matter). I highly recommend going if you all can!
But, I do have a web page I made up a few years ago that might help with some info, maps, and pics.

If I wasn't leaving for vacation the next day, I'd be in. Maybe next time!

Anne,
You now have two threads going for RSVPs. Can you consolidate, or delete one.
I responded to the other thread. Definite two people, possible 4 total in my group.
