I finally went out and photographed for the first time this year. Tuesday night saw snow descending into Oak Creek Canyon above Sedona. I had often wanted to photograph the area around Cave Springs Campground when snow was fresh and clouds were wafting around the canyon. Wednesday morning was that opportunity. Here is one from the morning, and I have placed some more in my gallery (see link). Please feel free to say which in the gallery you like most, or don't like, to help "thin the herd". Any specific suggestions on individual images are welcome too.
Nice set, Doug. I like #6 above the branches and #15 guardians. 6 for the intimacy, texture, and rich color. 15 for the snowy spiky plants and depth.

Man, those conditions are to die for, and you used them expertly to produce a beautiful collection.

Very unique images. I'm drawn to #12 and #15. I'm always a fan of the whole than just a part. Wondering how much snow is still up around flag to warrant a day trip tomorrow. Or oak creek for that matter.

Beautiful work Doug, the dusting of snow looks amazing in that canyon. My favorites were #1, #2, and #4.

Thanks all for looking and commenting. I kind of felt like a kid in a candy store yesterday and was enjoying use of the 70-300mm for the closer-cropped comps.
Peter, there are a few inches covering the ground here at the house, but the sun is taking its toll. The wind has done a good job of blowing the trees clear of most of the snow. It's almost 60* in Sedona today, so Oak Creen Canyon will likely have melted off. Clear and sunny skies tomorrow/Friday, although a weak storm should move through Sunday.

Thanks for posting those shots Doug: I love them all and especially like #1. The combination of the snow and red rocks under a gray sky produced some remarkable photographs.

Very, very nice Doug! Well done! I love the great combination of orange, green and white. Beautiful!

I really enjoyed the series. 1, 4, and 11 were the most striking for me. I actually think 11 is my top pick. Nice!

Doug, All are excellent but 1,2, & 8 really stand out to me - all have part of the rocks obscured by the clouds and that adds an air of mystery to each of those images. I can hear the silence in all of them, too.

You took good advantage of great conditions, Doug. Fine work indeed!
My favorites are the one you have posted here, 'Slide Rock Guardians', 'The Groove' and 'Frosty Tops'.
I do believe you could bump up the saturation on all of these without making them look garish.

I like the one you posted here second best and #12 Frosty Tops the very best. I hope you had a great day out there. Talk to you soon,
Michae
