Canon 1D Mark II
Canon 24-70mm f/2.8 L-Series @ 58mm
1/30 sec @ f/8.0 ISO 100
This image was taken several years ago at Crescent Lake. The light was flat/overcast and dead calm which created the sweet reflections of the yellow trees on the water.
I am testing Adobe's Lightroom 4.0 BETA1 and processed this image with excellent results. The image itself was over exposed in my early days of getting my head around "expose to the right". It made a great test to see what I could do in LR 4.0 with a troublesome image.
LR 4.0 is subtly different in many ways. The sliders in the development module have been changed. They react differently. The Brightness slider is completely gone which I think was a mistake. But over all I am VERY pleased with the changes. One just has to get used to the new changes is all.
Go ahead and download the FREE BETA version and spend some time getting comfortable with the changes.

Lovely photograph, striking.
Re: LR4, it's taken me a while to get used to the new layout and functions. For LR4 the Exposure slider incorporates more of the mid-tone control that the former Brightness slider handled and I like how it handles. In LR3 I only used Exposure to set the white point, so now I am happy to use the properly labeled Whites slider for that. What is really impressive is the Clarity makeover. Very powerful and forgiving as well.

I'm still very much getting used to the changes across the board in LR 4.0. I made a lot of presets in the develop module for LR 3.0 many of which no longer work. After having spent some time in LR 4.0 I understand why. But damn it sux to lose all those presets. Presets are what I love in LR!! They make my post processing a lot smoother and repeatable... sigh...

Rick----really nice---I hear they really made the clarity a lot better... I guess LR4 will be out soon.... nice job on the image before the processing!!!

Hi rick, love this. the colors are great. I tried to get lr4 but I am still on an xp machine and it says you must have vista or newer.

Sweet reflections is right; that's a beautiful shoreline!

Nice photo Rick, and thanks for your take on LR4. I'm still using LR2 and need to upgrade - just don't know if I want to try out the Beta version or let you (and other testers) work the kinks out first.
