Snow Kestrel 3
Even when you are in plain view as I was it is amazing how close you can get to wild creatures sometimes. I had the feeling that I could have got a lot closer to this kestrel but chose not to. A noise behind the bird disturbed it and as you can see it took off towards me suggesting that it was comfortable with my presence. In fact it came back to my position 5 mins later:wink:

Excellent Bob,

works for me as it is the posts and gate add to the shot, love the frosty wires.

Bob

Yet another top rate image. The gate post fence post all part of the environment where you find them.

Very nice Bob. The frosty fence is a nice touch. The Kestrel is nice too! :wavey: :toast: :toast: :toast:

For me this is an image that should be viewed large. At first sight it seemed somewhat cluttered but looking at it for a while (in the large version) it grows on you more and more. The bird looks pin sharp with a nice catchlight in the eye. All the little details like the snow, barbed wire, hinge etc seem to add to the story. I really like this one Bob. :toast:

Superb image Bob and like previous posts I too like the gate, posts etc as they add to the drama of the shot. For me I would like to see the wings out a little more. If you have a sequence of shots as the bird took off they would be good to see. The only time I get close to birds, animals etc is when I have no camera with me....how I weep for those lost shots! :frown:

I love the dynamics in the image but i think a crop could work well here. maybe worth a try?

Excellent, love the snowy setting and dynamic pose. Just right composition for me too.

Cracking shot Bob. The gate certainly adds to it, and I love the light and bg. :toast: :toast:
