Hi,

Photographed this male Stonechat,a couple of weeks ago,up on the clifftop coastal path just before sunset (at least I'm sure the sun was actually shining that day and it wasn't a dream  )

Be interested to hear opinions on whether you'd 'lose' the out of focus folliage.

The background isnt disturbing me at all, very nice image Justin. I do think it could be a touch brighter!

Hello Justin
Lovely stonechat image, the b/g is good for me, I think the bit at the back stops it being too pristine, I would leave as is.
The brighteness looks OK on my monitors, but I think they could be a bit on the bright side anyway.
Best wishes

Back ground not a problem Justin. Nice looking bird, but does seem a bit over done in terms of colouration.

I'd keep the out of focus foliage, as it allows you to place the bird in it's surroundings. Nice catchlight too. :toast:

PS - You sure we had any sun a couple of weeks ago??

Hi Justin
nice shot of the bird and the BG is fine by me. In my monitor I get a nice feeling of warm lighting which you normally only see early morning or late at night.

I feel the backgound is complementary as echos the reds of the bird.
Like it.

Agree with the above-lovely warm light and a classic stonechat pose :toast:

Looks good to me Justin, bg not a problem, I keep looking and I think that it not that it is slightly too dark, I think a slight reduction in contrast would help, not sure as it is hard to tell from a web sized image...

All the best

Hi Justin

Very nice shot in nice light and I also find the BG fine. Agree with Phil - when I first looked I felt the image was a little dark, but could be down to contrast!

Good capture of the classic Stonechat pose Justin. Leave the image BG alone as it works well.

A wonderful warm shot, Justin. Love the pose and colour intensity. I might want to lighten it up sligthly as well. :toast:

Hi Justin,

No probs with the BG. As usual you have produced a brilliant image.

Well Done

Not too keen on the OOF bits myself, but I like everything else about it. Wonderful evening light, and I love that deep blue background colour.

Thanks all for the comments and suggestions.

Lightened the image very slightly using the middle slider on the Levels command.
