Black Woodpecker
Haven't posted for quite sometime, so here we go. I have just returned from a short trip to Northern Sweden to photograph golden Eagles. I did photograph them but one of the highlights of the trip was this Black Woodpecker. They are uncommon in Vasterboten but this handsome bird showed at the feeder almost daily.

Nikon D3S with Nikon 600VR from hide.

Oh Rene what a way to start re-posting! What a stunning bird and what a superb image! Perch, pose & BG are superb and the detail in the bird is amazing. Would love to see a larger version of this. A very eye catching image and would look fantastic printed and hanging on my wall!

What a cracking looking bird. I would fly to Vasternoten just to see it and a shot as good as this would be the icing on the cake for me:wink:

The way it is sat within the perch is just perfect, looking back slightly and the background colour sets off beautifully

A quality piece of work, Rene. The perch is a real beauty and the smooth BG works a treat, the Woodpecker looks very good too with some good detail in the blacks and all of these points come together to make an excellent image.
