Ndutu Leopard
I cannot remember if I have posted this before and so apologies if I have

This is an image from last years trip to Ndutu on the edge of the Serengeti. I leave on March 7th for my next visit to this fabulous location and I was reviewing some images to get myself in the mood. Not that I realy need to do that as Ndutu is never very far from my thoughts:wink:

The leopard was in the shadow of the high branches when we got there but as it was very late in the day there was every chance that it would be heading down for a drink. I set up in manual for the sunny part of the trunk and chose the top left focus point on the 5dMKII. When it came down all I had to worry about was the composition

5dMKII 500f4 f4.5 ISO 500 1/2500 bean bag on the truck roof. A very slight crop only but some cloning of the foliage above the leopard and some OOF branches in the foreground. Also I removed a branch that was coming out of the trunk behind the front legs and sticking out of its behind. I would not normally put this sort of work into a picture but I thought it was worth it on this occasion,

Hi Bob
I don't know much about African wildlife ( I do mine in the local safari park- bit like paying to do bears   )
but this looks ok to me. If I went to somewhere like that I would take a dustbin lid and get some water- fill it and sit here all week. In a dry spell of course ! Bet I could boost me pool species up a bit !

Works for me Bob, the stealthy pose of the Leopard as it climbs down the tree is very nice.

Very special image Bob...need to view the large to fully apreciate it. The light on the leopard is gorgeous and there is a real sense of movement as it descends the branch. No nits from me. Very nice to see something more exotic on the forum.

Ah, my favourite big cat. It was worth putting in that work as this is a fine image. So lucky to get that background. The cat is a beauty. :toast:
ps. we have had some supposed sightings of a big cat (Pembrokeshire Panther) down here but I am not convinced. It would be great if it were true though, that would make for an interesting weekend.

Just spotted this.  I'm going to photograph leopard (slugs) residing in my worm compost bin tomorrow. I hope my images turn out half as good as this one. Excellent work.
